A purchase from Currys.

My LG TV ceased to function which put me in search of a replacement. I have always been told Samsung are the best so I went for a Samsung.
After setting up this TV I find the picture quality to be a long way off my old LG. As a sports fan the colours are like pastel and the football pitches are so bright green, unlike anything natural. I have played about with the settings but, still the grass is not a true colour.
I'm so disappointed with this Samsung 4k ultra I have e mailed Currys customer services expressing my grievances with this TV and would like it to be replaced. What are my rights regarding this.
Kind regards Jeff.

Samsungs default colour palette is vibrant.
Im not reaslly sure how you can not get the grass to a 'true' colour via settings though?0 -
<<I have always been told Samsung are the best >>
They who told you are just ???
Key here is are you saying the set is faulty ??0 -
Hi and thanks for your reply.
I have brought a few people around to view this and all say the colour isn't correct. A neighbour has connected his small Sony Bravia to our sky and the colour on his is magnificent. We have tried to alter the settings but, no matter what we do the colour of the grass seems as if it has been painted lime green to the screen. Considering Samsung have a good reputation for TVs, this one hasn't impressed me.
Kind regards Jeff.0 -

I did a side by side with a Bravia when we chose our Samsung.
IMO the colours were dull and washed out in comparison.
This was replacing an LG plasma screen.
What model is your TV?0 -
If you Google for your model number you will find sets of recommended settings from people who've spent the time tweaking every possible option, as you've found the defaults are pretty horrible but they are very customisable.
I'm not sure you have any "rights" as there's nothing wrong with the TV. If you purchased online then you may have a right to return it, depending on how long you've had it.
Samsung's display panels are often touted as being the best, that doesn't necessarily mean that their TVs are.0 -
I only purchased it yesterday, 21st Sept. Were currently watching West Ham V Man U and again, like green pitch. Just tried the Sony and the quality knocks the pants off this Samsung. Just not happy one bit.0

The time to do your research was before you purchased the TV, not afterwards. Unless it is actually faulty you have no rights to return it.jeff_chandler wrote: »I only purchased it yesterday, 21st Sept. Were currently watching West Ham V Man U and again, like green pitch. Rather than just "playing" with the settings it may be worth getting hold of a proper calibration disc or usb stick so you can set it up correctly. One thing you should do straight away is take it out of Vivid or Dynamic mode and into Movie mode as this will give the most realistic colour settings.0 -
Did you not view it in store and compare it to other makes/models on display before buying?
I don't know who these people are who've told you Samsung are the best but it's been a good 8-10 years since they were top end units, these days they produce mostly budget units that are stacked high and sold cheap.
As for the colour, first you said all the colours are like pastel then complain that the green is too vibrant so which is it?
Everybody has a different idea of what makes a good picture, what looks too vibrant to you could look perfectly colourful to me or what looks faded out to you could look more neutral to me, this is why you can almost certainly adjust the settings to get a picture closer to your preferred style you just need to learn how to adjust the settings properly on the new set.0 -

Go back say its faulty and if the vendor agrees after an inspection see what they offer .
But they may say its a normal colour for this model .
You have no rights to have it replaced if you dont like it .0 -
Make sure the tv picture setting is in normal mode and not dynamic as dynamic enhances colours artificially0
