Santander does on Credit cards, but not 123 account.

The Santander APP shows pending transactions for both credit cards and debit cards
The Santander WEBSITE does not show the pending transactions (though it does reduce your available balance)

This thread has misinformation originating from the confusion between pending transactions and upcoming payments. The app from LBG shows upcoming payments which is the list of standing orders and expected direct debits with amounts estimated from previous payments. The app does not show pending transactions. Pending transactions are card purchases that have not yet been deducted. Only online banking shows these. Why I don't know.
Ths thread also has confusion because it has been resurrected from months ago!

First Direct also now do show pending card transactions on the app, in addition to any direct debits scheduled to leave, or credits about to hit the account in the next few days. I'm using it on Android, no idea if the website does show it, but it must have been a recent thing as I have only noticed it in the past few days.

Thanks all, looks like most of them then, just HSBC lagging behind!

Does anyone have a 'B' account via Yorkshire/Clydesdale? I'm quite interested but I am a little apprehensive in case they get rid of this when it's renamed Virgin Money in the next few months.

No. Santander don`t. They did show pending transactions but now since a major app update, they don`t. I guess there is some ulterior motive for removing them but the cynical side of me is thinking they are hiding this info so it can catch customers out. Customers, who don`t pay attention to thier accounts, can then potentially be charged i.e not knowing their true balance etc. And yes. I`m digging this thread up again since this Santander update!

I have the new app and I still see pending debit card transactions. Don't think I've ever seen direct debits before they actually clear (although sometimes if it's the weekend they will come up as cleared but dated on the Monday)

How would they end up getting charged?  A debit card transaction won't be authorised if there aren't sufficient funds in the account.  And they are generally cleared within 24 hours anyway.

As far as evil schemes go, it wouldn't be a very good one..

Why do you want pending transactions? Is this 1993? What's needed by all is just showing the transaction listed as gone straight away, on the date of transaction. As far as you the end user is concerened, that money is spent.

Natwest just line up the pending transactions and then dump them all onto a single day when they clear, so annoying.

Transactions made on debit/credit cards *aren't* gone straight away though.  So if the app isn't showing pending transactions, then it wouldn't show them at all until they're posted - which is *usually* that evening, but not always.  So. if you went into a shop and bought something on your debit card, then looked in your app, it wouldn't show the transaction.
  • The bank can show it how ever they want to show it.  Starling/Chase list it as done in your transaction list straight away, only by pressing into the details does it show you it's pending. As I said, as far as the end user is concerned, when they tap the debit card they have handed over their cash and it's done. They aren't interested in the mechanics of how it works in the background. If the merchant doesn't then take the money it just shows as a refund.
