I have a 9 year old Baxi Solo Gas system boiler.
This is a ‘system’ boiler, (not combi) hot water storage cylinder and pump upstairs in the airing cupboard.
Always been professionally serviced and no real problems. It has recently started making a strange 'pulsing' noise shortly after firing up. ( Listen via included link, sorry video shot in horizontal mode) I am not trying to find a fix for myself ! in fact I have a service booked later this coming week. I am just trying to get an idea on this so I can anticipate the repair cost. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-k8WXsXZ/0/6b04305e/640/i-k8WXsXZ-640.mp4

Any help appreciated.

You may wish to post in the energy section rather than the alternative fuels section (this is gas, oil, wood etc).

It could be an LPG boiler:)

Sorry, I have no idea, but would be really interested to find out.

Do come back later this week an let us know what the service engineer diagnosed it as :)
  • Ok, no conclusive verdict unfortunately.

Engr suspects the fan but also found a leaking AAV (auto air vent) in the airing cupboard. Hang on. . . there's more ! based on the flow and return pipe temperatures he suspects the pump may be 'on it's way out.

Now strongly considering having a new boiler installed. Spending 'big money' on an amost 10 year old boiler may be false economy.

Owned by Worchester Bosch and stacks of good reviews all over the place. Anyone used them?
