best phone on tmobile (for my needs)
I'm a bit out of touch and having carried around a vario II (pda type smartphone) for the last year I want to have a smaller phone now.
I'm renewing my 12 month contract on tmobile today.
My requirements are...
- Small, light
- HSPDA (i use as a modem with my MacBook)
There don't seem to be many phones out there that fit my needs?
A basic nokia with HSPDA would be ideal but not sure if tmobile do one?

Nokia 6120 Classic - Symbian OS and HSDPA

Or Nokia N95
Only problem may be compatability with a Mac Book.
It may be worth buying a USB Modem for £99.99 on TMobile PAYG to put your sim in when you want to use the MacBook...

funnily enough the 6120 classic was pretty much where i'd got to! :-).
Amazing that it's kind of low end but has HSPDA whereas the higher end ones don't, I'm ruling out the N95 on account of bulk. Thanks for this.0 -
Have you checked that the Nokia DataSuite can be used with the Mac OS?
Even though the 6120 is low priced I rate it very highly. Most of the functionality of the N95 and you can add programs to it to enhance it further.
Its also compatible with TomTom/Co-Pilot Series 60 V3 software with a seperate Bluetooth GPS.0 -
got it, its chargin' :-)
wont use nok data suite anyways, might do a bit of tomtom and i have a gps unit - that clinched the deal. thanks0 -
if the n95 is too fat then nokia are bringing out the n82 soon, its a candybar dims 112 x 50.2 x 17.3 mm so longer but thinner than the n95 but with the same internals and most of the bugs worked out, if it had usb charging i would certainly get one0

i'm delighted with it so far.
I imagine my battery life wil take a massive hit if i stay data connected on 3G all the time? any comments, seems if i stay connected i get instant emails, nice but I don't really need that if it's gonna kill the battery.0 -

When your not using it for Data go to settings, call, networks and turn it onto GSM only.
It may be slightly different to get to that, but I am going by memory as my N95 is still at Nokia after 3 weeks aftr a failed software update.
With the email, go into settings and change it to not download automatically.
All I do is go into my account and click send/receive.0
