Parking charge

Hi everyone,
I hope someone on this forum is able to offer some advice.
On Monday, 12th August I parked my car in a shopping centre car park. The carpark itself does not require a ticket to be collected on entry but payment is made at the machine at the end of the shopping centre. Number plates are recognised automatically using ANPC.
A week later I received a letter stating that I did not make payment and that I owe £50 if paid within 14 days, £85.00 outside this period. I challenge the fine as I made payment at the machine using cash. I did not ask for a receipt as it was only 60p to park for the hour. I was asked to key in my registration details on the machine and pay the amount according to the time I had parked.
Since making the initial challenge, the company in question, namely Horizon Parking, state that after further investigation they cannot find any record of payment and I am required to send proof within 14 days.
I have since contacted the shopping centre to see what can be done and the only other proof I can ask for is CCTV footage. Is this reasonable? Some have suggested to pay the charge outright and move on....but the fact is I paid the correct amount for parking my car but I have no proof.
I would be grateful for any advice.
Many thanks

Have Horizon rejected your appeal?
If not, wait for that rejection letter/email.
If so, you need to be compiling an appeal to PoPLA.
Horizon's appeal rejection letter will have given you a PoPLA verification code.
Read post #3 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread to discover how to create and submit a winning PoPLA appeal.0 -
Hi there,
No, Horizon have not rejected the appeal but have asked for proof of payment. They have given me an extra 14 days to provide this.0
