Amazon have 14K of 'MY' money !!!

I recently started selling higher value items than usual on my Amazon Marketplace account. In one day I sold about 15.5k+ of stock & the fees for this were in the region of 2k (easy money for Amazon). I now have approximately 14k in my Amazon account.

They subsequently decided to place my account under review, so I promptly gave them all the information they requested within a matter of hours, no problem.

They have since lifted the restriction & I can sell more stock if I wish...BUT... they will not release my funds for another 20+days. This is not on surely, particularly as I have given them all the info they requested & it's all been verified Etc.

I have repeatedly emailed the sentinal but they won't lift this part of the restriction, or even reduce it.

I AM FURIOUS !!!

The pillocks then sent an email wishing me a profitable festive period selling with Amazon... I DONT DAMN WELL THINK SO... not with 14k tied up gathering interest for them!

Does anyone have an idea how this can be corrected any sooner.

  • I'm not surprised they put your account under review. 15.5k in one day??!?!?
What on earth were you selling? They will have done it to protect against fraud. You must admit that amount of money looks suspect?

I sell electronics & the account has been in use for nearly a year on lower value items admittedly. I recently found a supplier for a very popular item & at a very good price.

It annoys me that even with 100% feedback they can do this without warning.
  • I see, I thought it was a brand new account set up that day. Still I can see their point of view, that they have to check it out.

I don't think 20 days is excessive. At that sort oif level of selling they will treat you like a business many of whom only settle accounts at the end of the following month (i.e. up to 56 days credit ... a bit like credit cards etc.).

I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!
  • Maybe a carefully worded email about taking your trade elsewhere may perk them up - if you're doing such a large turnover and they're seeing in the region of 12% of it they may be a little more forgiving.

    Or it wouldnt

These things happen for AML and anti fraud reasons

Amazon will be bound under regulation etc

At the end of the day the OPS behaviour is very unusual and Im glad it is being treated appropiately

Thanks for the comments, but my actions are not that unusual in reality. I turnover tens of thousands of pounds every month with them on slightly lower value items. Amazon know I am a reliable trader & have really hacked me off this time. I shall vote with my feet!

My point being...a review should be just that, & when it's completed, normal trading should resume.

It's like saying we trust you to trade...but not quite, & we won't explain why!

I can see that they might be cautious with someone selling Wii's or other big ticket items in short supply.

Sounds like they are being causious with the spike in turn over, but although it looks sensible I don't understand why they have not clearly stated why you have to wait 20days for the funds.

Presumably so Amazon can see if any of the customers complain that their big ticket items have not arrived.

    Seems fair enough really.
