I see it more as observing somebody else stealing and then reporting them.

If you accept cash to help someone commit a crime I would imagine that the courts would take a pretty dim view.

But are you helping them to commit a crime? The crime is only committed once the buyer fills in the SDLT return and sends it off to HMRC. As you have no hand in this can you really be an accomplice?

Glad I am not in the OPs position because for all my bravado, if I was selling my warren I'm sure Mrs Rabbit would not be happy to proceed on the bases the OP's buyer has suggested.
  • Save me all this self-righteousness, hands up anyone out there that has not tried to avoid paying Tax in some form or another, let them cast the first stone. This is the Moneysavingexpert forum I can not see many stone throwers on here.

There's avoidance and evasion. If you sign a contract to say you're selling a house for less than you are, that's evasion I reckon.

Yes, and the government wouldn't have the cash to start illegal wars and kill millions of innocents...snip...You're absolutely spineless.

I admire anyone who has the courage of their convictions.

From the above I assume you are an active tax resister on moral grounds? Or are you just encouraging others to things you don't really have the balls to do yourself? ;)

Well morally speaking, all tax is theft but that's another matter.

    Care to explain...?

    It's a Libertarian idea.

That all compulsory taxation is the forced taking of anothers income or wealth under threat of imprisonment and so is theft just the same as being mugged in the street.

They also say that all government run welfare leads to the enslavement of the taxpayers as the welfare recipient is living off the forced labour of others.

It's not 100% accurate but not far off the truth either IMO.

Stamp duty is a complete con and should be abolished for all but the super rich. But you'd rather bend over and let Gordo thrust his greasy length up your dirtbox than actively refuse to be part of his little scam. You're absolutely spineless.

Gosh you really are charming aren't you! Suppose I decide you should be shot, so in spite of the law to the contrary, I shoot you? Actually, why not... roof over my head, three meals a day... hmm...

I'd rather protest lawfully actually. When were you last arrested for exercising the courage of your convictions then Zammo?

Personally I wouldn't advise anyone to break the law. Maybe that's spineless, I prefer to think of it as sensible.

Can't see voluntary taxation working too well! Still, you do express yourself more delicately than Zammo, so may we agree to differ?

Risk versus reward. Very little reward. Too much risk for no upside I reckon.
