New home - but no gas bill?

As I'd already suggested...Put your address in here and see if anything comes up.

The OP will have to pay sooner or later, and currently they're likely to be on an expensive tariff. Telling them that it's free, hence encouraging them to use more, is highly irresponsible advice. If it hasn't been allocated, enjoy your free gas.0 -

Well! It comes up and says eon is the supplier!!
Looks like the site managers are still paying0 -
When I moved in the site manager told me it would be all set up with eon. We checked the meters and everything. I received my electricity bill as expected. I just assumed the gas one was maybe coming later.
It's up to you to set up a new account with your supplier; no one else can do it for you.
Contact eon and get it sorted today

The site does not say who is the account holder.
I'm sure the developer would have closed their account effective completion day.
Even if not, it can be done retrospectively - there will be formal records that indicate when you completed.
Eon will be charging you from completion, and at their default tariff, their most expensive probably, until you agree something otherwise.0 -

I contacted eon. It is under their name still.

If the developer's admin department failed to close their account you may now have a problem in determining your opening reading, so you may end up being billed for their usage before you completed...

Shouldn't be an issue, I hope. We did check it on move in day and sign. But thanks for the heads up0 -

Really?
So you've contacted Eon and they have seen that your electricity account is in your name, yet the gas account for your address is in a different name entirely
And you say Eon told you that? The name of who the gas account is in?
In clear breach of the most basic of GDPR principles?
I'm smelling something, and it's not the sweet smell of roses.;)
Thank MSE for their ignore list. I didn't know they even had one until you posted, but it's all quite simple to use. Good-bye.0 -
It's always worth taking a quick photo of the meters on important dates such as move in, move out, and change of supplier. They can help push back against the industry's "unanswerable to anyone" body that takes it upon itself to change such readings if it feels like it.Shouldn't be an issue, I hope. We did check it on move in day and sign. But thanks for the heads up0
