A nightmare with autoglass.

Last week someone broke into my car through my drivers side window, when i realised this had happened, i went online to Autoglass's website to get a quote for a new window to be fitted.
I chose my date and time slot and paid £75 which i believe was an excess cost, however the next morning i got a call from Autoglass saying they had no Fiesta glass in stock and couldnt give me an E.T.A. I then recieved a quote of £90 from an independant garage who could do it the next day for me, and this way it wouldnt affect my insurance premiums for next year.
So i told Autoglass i'd like to cancel my booking and that id like a refund but they are saying they cant see any payment that i've made.
I've got proof of the transaction on my bank statement, its causing me a lot of worry at the minute because ive currently paid £165 on my window which i didnt account for when budgeting my money, and its only half way through the month, autoglass took the money within an instant but getting it back is proving to be an absolute nightmate!
So what should i do regarding the refund and would Autoglass have already notified my insurer about this?:(
Sorry for the waffle :A

It'll probably get automatically cancelled off your card statement. Otherwise challenge it with you card provider as service not provided. Even though not covered by section 75 it'll still almost certainly get cancelled.
  • Card providers always refer you back to the seller to sort it out in my experience. Another 'guarantee' that is good in theory but doesn't seem to work in practice.

For a complete non supply of service I'd expect my card company to do better than that. Taking money for a service that was cancelled can be seen as near-fraudulent. I'm assuming OP already had a call with Autoglass and simply isn't getting anywhere. Although I think Autoglass will eventually rectify this, I've found them easy to deal with.
