I have just paid £150 for a service to my 4 year old Ideal gas boiler, this seems a lot, can anyone confirm what they have paid? The fan also needs replacing, can anyone tell me a fair price for that job please. Sorry if I have posted in the wrong place.

If it helps, we charge £75 + vat for a gas service plus any parts neededNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
Thanks. Seems I have paid a lot. I'm waiting for the call back on having a new fan fitted. What sort of price should I expect?0

Presumably you got a service record from the engineer, what does it say on there? Also i am in West Wales where i would make the assumption is cheaper than most areasNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

The cheapest price I have seen is £45 for a service, so anything less than £60 is ok; depends a lot on where you live and if they need to do any work to the boiler.0

Thanks for the replies. In Cheshire so paying a higher price I guess.0

I'm doing a special pre-winter service offer for £55 atm, isn't your boiler still under warentee ?
Unfortunately you have found out the hard way that Ideal boilers just aren't very good.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

Paid £50 for service on baxi/potterton in North West. Warranty forms & paperwork completed, gas adjusted...surprising amount of gunk in the magnet thingy. :eek:No longer trainee

£60 in East Yorkshire - and I know that British Gas charge about £85 for a service.
So yes, when you're paying nearly double what British Gas are charging people, you've most certainly been ripped off.
Unless of course it's not just your boiler being serviced? Did your engineer do a gas fire or other appliances as well for that price?0 -
South coast. A 2 man team servicing the boiler, checking the gas hob. Did a good job, gave feedback on what he was seeing. Provided all the paperwork. Can't remember how much, but it was £40-45. I think they were here nearly an hour.
I just checked. £45.0
