My landlord wants £2300 to replace a fire door.

Hello everybody, My landlord wants to charge £2300 to replace my flat entrance door with a new FD30 rated fire door and doorframe. Is this a reasonable charge for materials, labour, architrave, cam closer, survey costs, prelims, overheads, profit, fees and VAT? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. JP

He owns the flat, it is his responsibility to pay for a new door in full - That said, it might fall to the leaseholder, but that would be a matter for the LL & leaseholder to discuss.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
I got one done for around £800.
If you are responsible for paying it why not offer to get it done and get some decent quotes?

Thanks prosaver. There is nothing wrong with the old door, except it is over 30 years old and not certified. So the landlord has a new policy to renew all flat entrance doors.
Unfortunately, the price of buying leasehold.
