No because I need to speak on the phone.

Because nothing says "professional" more than calling a client with all of the background clatter and conversations from other customers in a cafe. :rotfl:

I always wonder if people working in cafes are really only pretending that they’re working. A bloke near me in a pub the other day was having a business call on his mobile and I swear he wasn’t really talking to anyone. All just a sad act for an audience who don’t care.

I sometimes have to work in cafes because my work takes me far from home. Trust me i’d rather be in my pyjamas near my fridge than in some grotty motorway services costa!

Oh ok I believe you!:D But the bloke in the pub really really was pretending. I’d bet a finger on it.

I have to confess I have actually worked in cafes a few times. But I found it so hard to concentrate that in a way all I did was effectively pretend to work, albeit not for performance purposes!
  • Ive worked a in cafes as a postgrad (so just quietly reading and writing, to get a break from the uni library or my house). I still do a bit now on the odd days where I go straight from my main job to another- because they're 5 miles apart and home is 25 miles so with 2 hours break it isnt worth going home. But again just quietely filling out papework or reading emails, etc. I still think its a bit rude to be working in a cafe all day (especially if not on just a little table- which is often isnt) using their wifi unless you are buying drinks all day (that would be 8 or so drinks though!). :o

There are some independent coffee shops near me who have areas you cant take laptops now (the area with tables designed for more than 1-2 people generally) to try and obviously solve this issue. Seems a good idea.

....sorrt I have no idea where the most cafes are. Ive never been to a town or city without enough cafes though!
  • If I had a cafe you'd would be spending £5 an hour minimum or you would be out on the street with me randomly turning off the WiFi. Seriously

It's hard to tell as it's a fluctuating field.

The number of "greasy spoon" cafes keeps shrinking but the number of "giant bowls of coffee plus an overpriced muffin/sandwich" cafes seems to be increasing.

You won't be killing time in any of them. You'd have more luck in Spoons with a bottomless coffee cup than you would in a caff.

Whilst I remain unsure what job in banking would encourage cafe working. OP may wish to consider proper not dealing sites opened and designed especially for those who do not work in an office but require a similar space.

Surely far more preferable to an insecure cafe.
