I may miss this one out and get myself better known on the board before attempting one of these

Don't be silly - it's one of the best ways of getting yourself well known...to the local constabulary too...

Hey up Z, I could pick you up on the way down if you like?? I will be going via the North East.

That's a nice gesture, but it's the time spent sitting that's a problem - not the driving itself.

Maybe I should put a bed in the back of my car...

  • Cheers Lenny for the thought, but it would be a hell of a round trip unless you're thinking of moving a hell of lot further south than you currently live - I'm in Poole so you'd have another 3 hours back up North to go after picking me up!

I'll have to see what the old money situation is like nearer the time.

It's not going so well at the moment

YAY - I'm in. Wayne isn't ecstatic that I'm leaving him behind, but if he can't say for definite that he's not working then tough!

Just done a bit of checking and it's £44 by train and £25 by national express coach from leeds to Birmingham at the moment... I'm going to look into driving times but that would depend on car parking...

there's loads of travel lodges in / near Birmingham but I guess it would be central (£66.00) or central plaza (£49 for a standard or family room). Which travel lodge would be best??

    Hi Cat

Both of those are near the main drinking area in Brum (Broad St) - but depends whether you want to go there or not:confused: . Both would only be a short walk/taxi ride away from main city centre, but Plaza one is slightly further out (hence the cheaper price I guess!) I'd say there's not much in it really!
