Oh I LOVE karaoke. If I knew how to edit video on my computer, I would upload a hilarious video of some girls-night-out karaoke from a few weeks ago.

    But I don't.

    So you're spared! ;):D

I hate clubs too, crap music, crowded, expensive warm beer, teenagers throwing up their pop... no no no.

Karaoke, well, I once worked in this club where we had to do bandioke for 3 hours straight. A big book with 1000 or so tunes, people pick a tune and us poor musos have to back up their wailing, oh god that brings back painful memories *shudder*

Anyway, I know brum pretty well, my ex ex lives there, we're still really good mates so I've already asked to catch up for a coffee while I'm up there. The glee club is good, but I don't mind what we all do really.

But you live in the south - warm beer is part of the heritage...

That sounds a good idea! You can accompany me. I'll "sing" very quietly, while you bang very hard.

    No, no...the drums...

I also live in the South, Z, and yes, warm beer may often be all that is on offer, but as for being part of our 'heritage' it's a bit like saying that 'gruel' is part of the heritage of the working man - there may be a smidgeon of truth in it, but it's something we're working hard to shake off.

    Hi

I've found an Etap hotel (1 Great Gilmore Street, Birmingham, B15 2AP) that sleeps 2 or 3 for £38 per room. Breakfast is £2.95 extra per person. (prices include tax).

I have a friend who stayed in one and she said that they're basic - no frills but perfect when you just want a place to kip!

I'll post details of any other hotels etc I find!

www.flybe.com starting flights between Birmingham and Newquay from 1st Arpil 2008. Only a summer timetable, but if anyone fancies a break in Cornwall next year, its well worth the 45 minute flight.

A LOT better than 6 hours on the train, or 6+ hours by road.
