Ebay - Time of the month / year!!

Is anyone else finding that all of the annoying / complaining type people are starting to rear their heads in time for Xmas just recently?
In the last 6 months, I have made over 500 sales with 3 minor, easily rectified complaints.
In the last 2 days, I have had 4 - 1 genuine, 3 pathetic.
When will ebay realise that their feedback system is unfair. I am having to bend over backwards - all smiles etc to avoid three negatives from people who are blatantly trying it on.
Ebay is a nice sideline, I am the first to admit - (a lot more hard work than most people think), and I know that a site like theirs does not run for free. But with the amount that they are taking in fees (over £3k for the above sales), i would be nice if they sacked the robots, and actually employed some people to moderate disputes etc.
And as for Paypal..............grrr.
OK enough of the rant  , someone please tell me that I am not the only one.

Totally agree. When a NPB can leave feedback and obviously 1 out of 5 for each of the feedback questions it is definately not fair

Exactly.
The one that really got me, is the "child" who won my auction Tuesday night, and within 10 minutes messaged me to say that she hadn't read the description correctly, and that "she would appeciate it if I sold the item to the next highest bidder"
After pointing out her obligations etc., she did not hesitate in threatening me with a negative!! Ridiculous and blo@*dy annoying.
Oooh I do need to calm down. Pass me a beer!0 -
Yes the feedback process is seriously flawed. In order to keep good feedback I have lost significant amounts of money when I have not made errors.
At this time of year I have noticed that I get a lot more v low feedback buyers.
Yes I am always pi**ed off when an NPB responds to the process. I won't leave them a neg. then as 99 times out of 100 I would then get a retaliatory neg.0 -
Is this a can of worms that I have opened - at least I am getting some comfort knowing that it is not just me!
I wonder what percentage of negatives are met with a retaliatory (justified or not) negative response.
Just like you Patchwork, I am hesitant to leave anything but positives for fear of a "revenge" attack.
I really pride myself on my service, and my feedback in (99.5%) of cases reflects this. I love feeling that I have succeeded when I get a nice, complimentary feedback. However, sadly, a lot of people do not read these - they look at the figures instead, and these can be so easily ruined.
If anybody reading this has anything to do with Ebay, please, please take note!!0 -
I have on a few occasions had buyers who haven't read the listing properly. One in particular bought a single mattress twice with two different accounts. Apparently this was a mistake
. So I told her that under ebay rules she was obliged to complete the purchase, but as a matter of good will I would cancel one of the orders.
Then when our drivers tried to contact her to say they were on the way they got no answer. Eventually after about 20 calls the daughter answered and said that someone would be there to take the delivery.
When our van arrived there was no answer at the door, or on the phone, until eventually they saw the daughter at the window. She said that she wouldn't answer the door (even though they were stood there with the mattress). However eventually they convinced her to.
A while later we received a phone call and she said that she had ordered a complete divan bed, and not just a mattress. So I double checked the listing, and it quite clearly said that it was for the mattress only. So I offered to deliver the base on the next delivery run, and said that we wouldn't charge her any more for delivery (normally we charge £20 delivery for a single mattress, or £30 for the divan set), but she said that she wouldn't bother.
Then a few hours later she gave us our very first and to this date only negative, and said that we had changed the listing after she had bought  .
Well I'm sure most of you know that it is impossible to change a listing after a purchase has been made.
It took countless e-mails trying to explain that she had simply made a mistake, but she just insisted that I was trying to con her. Now as I'm sure you all know there is a huge difference between a feedback of 99.9% and one of 100%. Also the comments that she made were also false and libelous, and could have a huge effect on our sales. So we even had to threaten legal action.
Eventually after sending her the links to the page on ebay that says that you can't edit listings after a sale, she withdrew the feedback. However her comments remain and don't do much for our reputation:mad: .0 -

I do get fed up of people complaining too, although not sure where I can complain about people complaining about people complaining:rotfl:.0 -
I agree it could be the time of year. I have been selling about once a month all through the year with no problems and the last month or so has been a bloody nightmare. Sellers not reading descriptions, claiming things have arrived broken, or failing to pay. I'm getting fed up with the lot of it. I also have a funny feeling one buyer may be about to tell me her item hasn't arrived, since it was sent days ago, and she has just sent me (rather bizzarely I thought) a message to tell me how much she is looking forward to receiving it

i've had a similar problem as Alloydy before with a "kid" bidding on an item and then the "parent" emailing to say they no longer want it. they threatened me with a negative and i told them to go for it, they ruined my 100% record (after 4 sales), i ruined hers (after over 400).
needles to say, i had the last laugh.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
and about people being arsey and trying it on, some bint tried it a few days ago saying a parcel didn't arrive and that she wants a full refund, despite the parcel being sent special delivery and her signature being on the royal mail website.
funnily enough, i haven't heard from her since.helpful tips
