We moved from Petplan to BoughByMany a few months ago as when our dog reached the age of 5 the price really increased. We now have more cover at a cheaper price from BoughtByMany (Voted most trusted pet insurance provider at the Moneywise Customer Service Awards 2019).

Pre exisiting conditions include anything you consulted your vet about, whether medication or treatment was given or not.
How does the insurance company know about anything that has been consulted with the vet?

Yup, one of our cats had overgroomed the base of his tail and gotten very sore. Not sure whether it started as behavioural or a skin complaint. We had a few steroid shots and some cleaning gel. Didn't claim on insurance (PetPlan). Cue an exclusion at renewal for both behavioural issues and skin complaints.

If you didn't claim, how did Petplan know to add it as an exclusion? Do vets inform the insurer even if no claim is made?
