Is there a flue box, can you measure the dimensions?

You can get very slimline inset fires, one below only needs an 8cm deep box.

And these Valor ones do use the flue, so the fumes leave the room unlike the flueless ones and the high efficiency units are almost as efficient as the flueless units.
  • I've skimmed read it thankyou, bottom line question is if they are so dangerous why are they not banned items?
    Cigarettes aren't banned either.

They have catalytic converters to spray water into your living room, require a big hole in the wall to let all the heat escape, you can't use them as your main source of heating so you need to install a proper heating source as well, and if you don't maintain them correctly they'll kill you with carbon monoxide poising. What's not to like?

When you put it like that......
  • Sounds like you need an outset gas fire rather than an inset or hole-in-the-wall one.

Which ones are suitable will depend on the exact flue type.

    Thankyou for your help
