Usually I’d just scroll on by on some posts but this one even though it’s been deleted (thanks to those that have managed to quote bits) has got me a little cross.
My youngest child didn’t secure a place in the school closest to us, and the one her brother attends (not our catchment despite this particular school being 1.5 miles away and my catchment more than 4 miles away....) it became apparent later on that a set of parents had been dishonest about their address when allocated their school place and even at points had mentioned in the playground about how they didn’t live there etc. For me who had been honest with my application it was a very bitter pill to swallow!
As it happened their dishonesty backfired and the LA found out and their child’s place was withdrawn which ironically they had the balls to moan to anyone who would listen and on social media too how their child was being “denied” and how unfair it was.
My point is everyone wants the school of their choice but it saddens me the lengths people will go to in order to make that happen and others suffer as a result0 -

Sometimes, you wish there was an "awesome" button instead of just a thanks. Brilliant comment!Usually I’d just scroll on by on some posts but this one even though it’s been deleted (thanks to those that have managed to quote bits) has got me a little cross.

It irks me when people move to a catchment area *just* to get the school they want, because it's a privilege most people don't have, so it's unfair but it's legal as long as they've lived there long enough to meet the school rules (usually they'll accept 6 months or so as a minimum) and they stay there. It's yet another layer of inequality in society, but they are still technically playing by the rules.
To fraudulently claim a school place based on an address that is not the child's primary residence is another level of selfish, though. It's also no good for the child to have such needless instability.0
