  • £80 for gas and £60 electric. Smart meters and monthly DD. Never cold and usage is in credit on gas, electricity is pretty constant now Yr round. 2 adults in a 3 bed end of terrace, 2 electric showers a day, washer and drier used 3 times a week average, dishwasher every other day, gas hob and electric oven, Baxi combi boiler. Also run 2 fridges and 2 chest freezers.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.
  • £58 a month and currently £70 in credit for gas and electricity.
Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.

    ........................

Yet my bill says im using £26.52 per day?

Jessica - I wonder if you are taking this out of context in some way ? £26.52 a day is £10,000 a year. Are you really paying £10,000 a year? I think not.

Where does that payment show ? On your bill, your In House Display ?

Does it tie in with your actual meter readings - you do read your meter don't you?

Are your bills full of estimated readings ?

Give us some actual meter readings please from your bills and from your meter.

    £16 pm for gas
£28 pm for electric on a pre-pay meter
    Both with (British) Scottish Gas.

    I'm in a 2 bed, 60's ex-council flat in Scotland.

    That’s amazing.
I’m in Surrey the sunny south east and I pay £100 a month for both.
I live alone in a modest 2 bed house (semi - so neighbours only on one side).
I have a combi boiler - so no water heated in advance to waste.
I also have a nest thermostat - so if I go straight out after work the heating knows I’m not home & doesn’t come on.
    I also work full time.
  • Must admit i am happy with https://igloo.energy/ so far. They was easy to join up with & my account was updated within 12 hours after submitting a meter reading.
    Payment method: Fixed Direct Debit
    Unit rate: 13.013 p/kWh + vat
    Standing charge: 20.833 p/day
In the winter, in a 5 bed bungalow with myself & 3 lodgers its about £75 a month on electric & about the same on LPG gas. The summer it about £50 on electric & £20 on LPG . But 3 lodgers use more than 3 kids. lol

The thread was started 2 months ago and the OP has never returned. Why resurrect it?

I would urge you to consult a comparison site.

Despite the fact the unit rate you quoted actually includes VAT contrary to what you indicate, you could still save over £80 a year by switching. :money:

Jessica has obviously solved her problem and needs no further advice.
