This has got me thinking about radiators in general now, does it make a difference when my 90x90 curtains are pulled and the radiators are behind them? All my radiators in my house are under the draughty/single pane windows

Why not try an experimewnt? Fold the curtains up so they sit on top of the rads and then you can check how much warmer the room is.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

You'd need to check the outside temperature first to ensure that it's constant and ensure that the starting temperature was the same at the start of both experiments and then you could time it to see how warm the room gets after one hour of heating?

Also, make sure that there are the same number of people in the room during both trials and that you have the same electrical equipment running (eg. lights tv etc).

I have radiator shelves to keep the curtains away from the rads.

If the radiator is in the bathroom fit a towel rail above it.

OR start handwashing your pants in the bathroom sink while she cleans her teeth ;)

No what is worse is when they pee in the bathroom basin because they claim it is just the right height ewww. Mind, it should to the trick.
  • Your poor girlfriend having to listen to such rubbish! Frankly, if a damp towel on a radiator impacts significantly on the heating levels in your house you've got a much bigger problem that you need to address with your heating system! I'd suggest that you get on with that instead of moaning at your poor girlfriend. Be quick or she might leave you for someone who has a clue!
