As already stated (several times now), many many many many others were luckier and didn't need to provide old paperwork because there was a thorough paper trail of their finances.. many people don't keep old papers...I wa just lucky.
Of course, most of those people didn't wait for three decades before complaining..

Heh heh! Well 30 years ago I wouldn't have even been aware that there WAS anything to complain about... I wasn't as financially astute in those days... Still learning...0
