Sending problems with MS Outlook

I have now reconnected my PC to NTL/Virgin broadband to try and get back to where I was before the connection of TalkTalk broadband.
I'm still having problems with Outlook. I cannot send or receive via Outlook. I have looked at my settings in accounts and all seems OK. I have checked and every time I try a test, up pops a box asking for my NTL password! I enter my password and it fails.
Help, please.0 -
Do you still have active Virgin cable as well as TalkTalk? Don't really understand why you have gone backwards. If TalkTalk is your new ISP, get that working in Outlook and post any error codes if it doesn't work. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I understand what you mean but I was trying to go back to where I was.
My new ISP is TT but I still am connected to Virgin until I disconnect at the end of the notice period. The only reason I still need Outlook is because of my emails into my NTL/Vigin account. Or do I? Should I just forget about Outlook and use the Web mail on Virgin/NTL until I notify all my contacts of my new address?0 -

Ideally you should have added new accounts to Outlook and left the old working ones alone.
The best option is to use ISP independent e-mail so that you don't have these problems when you move ISP's e.g. Googlemail, Yahoo etc. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

That's what I tried to do and that's where it all went wrong!
I have a Gmail address that I use on a regular basis. I don't intend to use the TT email address but wanted to make sure that I did not miss my incoming emails on my NTL/Virgin account. I think I will just use the Webmail on that account until it expires.
Many thanks for the replies and advice (and other posters)0 -

If you had simply added an account for your new TalkTalk email, your old NTL/Virgin account would not have been touched and would still work now! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

I altered my incoming and outgoing server settings to read Talktalk.net on both. Did I do wrong?
Yes, you should have added a new account for TalkTalk and only changed the POP3 SMTP sever settings on this new account, leaving the old NTL/Virgin account exactly as it was. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

That's where I went wrong! I have tried time and time again to edit my NTL account (back to where it was) but nothing seems to work.0 -
