Sending problems with MS Outlook

Earlier today I installed TT Broadband. Since then, I can receive emails on Outlook but I'm unable to send any.

I am getting a message; 0x800ccc67 followed by 421 aamt.

Can anyone please assist?

At a guess, you may need to change your SMTP server in your email account settings to smtp.talktalk.net (assuming you meant Talktalk by the abbreviation TT).
  • That error message is usually associated with an incorrectly set up account,

Check all your settings including username and password are correct

Check the SMTP and POP settings, and if you require Secure Server settings, that that is checked too

As espresso says no secure server settings. I'm on talktalk, the smtp settings robt posted are all you need for the outgoing settings in outlook. In fact that's the only thing that even mentions talktalk on my pc (although I'm even considering using my email host's smtp settings and be completely ISP independant).

Could I have caused the problem? Earlier today I tried to export and import my addredd book from Outlook into Talktalk. I failed miserbly! Could that be the cause.
If I did a systems restore, would I lose everything I did this afternoon or would it just turn the clock back and my Outlook go to a stage before I tried to I and E my contacts?

Many thanks to all for the replies!

Why are you installing anything by talktalk? You shouldn't really have any software on your pc from your ISP, it normally is more of a headache than it's worth.

Sorry to be a numpty but how can I tell if my Outlook is 97 or 99 or 02 etc? I looked at the TalkTalk help page (thank you) and I need to know which one I have.

Just change the old mail server (probably smtp.youroldISP.co.uk) to the new talktalk one and everything will be sorted.

As robt says, won't really matter too much on version, it's still pretty much the same procedure. Just so long as you can find the email account settings. For reference though, if you go to Help and then About MS Outlook, it'll give you the version.
