Cambelt, timing belt, 2 names for the same thing ( you call it a sofa, I call it a settee :-) )
In the normal course of things, it's false economy to change just the belt, you'd change tensioners, pulleys and other bits & bobs as well - commonly called a "timing belt kit" as a whole. You'd probably change the waterpump whilst you're at it. The parts are not too expensive, it's the labour that costs, it's quite a long job. If you were planning on keeping the car, you'd get an unequivocal "get it done properly, and now" from most level-headed people. But if it's going to be scrapped in 6 weeks, I really wouldn't bother. If the belt should snap then yes, you're left with no car. But I'd be surprised if it's only going to cost £100 to change it, round about £250 or so would be a more realistic figure. Odds on you'll get away with it for 6 weeks, but even if you're very unlucky, a couple of hundred quid will pay for a lot of taxis :-) Or a banger, as a previous poster suggested.0 -

Very very true. You’re right. I’m going to risk it.
If it breaks down, I’ll get it toed to the dealership haha.& then rely on public transport / taxis0 -
I'm sure my C2 manual said 110k miles or 10 years (Diesel VTS model). I sold it at 95k miles and 8.5 years old before it needed doing. I would say don't bother for a car you only need for 6 weeks personally! Unless they'll give you more part ex because it's been done. But you are way past the 10 year mark for needing it done on age rather than mileage.0

Yes exactly. I just can’t find it anywhere in my handbook for my mileage. Only going off word of mouth0
