All I use is a £100 navman gps and a £1.99 AA atlas to deliver across the UK, can't say I've come a cropper yet!

Sorry to hijack this thread but can someone tell me the difference between these two other than £100 odd?
I thought the cheaper one also came with 'safety' camera warnings? But I can't really see why one costs so much more! :undecided

Without checking, could it be that one has more "gimmicks", that will never be used, than the other?
Tom Tom One for me, I use one and it does what it's meant to do, well almost, and guide you from A to B. Failing that a good large scale atlas of the UK?0 -

Both the same model apart from one is sold by Amazon, the other sold by a third party seller which is older, Tomtom ran an offer for free speed cameras about 6 months ago. You can get speed cameras for £19 a year from here
which is by far the best database for speed cameras. Satnavs do not 'detect' speed cameras they just tells you when you are a preset(by you) distance from them and warns you, its just a file with a list of Lat/Long positions.0 -

There's no actual difference between the 2 machines or the maps, the dearer one has a years subscription to the TomTom safety cameras thrown in, oddly enough though a years subscription to the safety cameras isn't £100. Something to watch out for with these "special offers".Winnings

TomTom recently updated the software for all their models & as a side effect they made the camera warnings spread over a wider area, this means that if you pass a speed camera on the opposite side of the road the machine will warn you, people have been reporting warnings for cameras that are not even on the same road as the one they're travelling on.Winnings

So is the Tomtom on offer for £149 in Halfords any good? I'm worried I'm gonna get one that is really out of date.. and updating it will be expensive.

Thanks
Tomtom give you a 30 day update period using their 'HOME' software on your computer to ensure you have the latest map, so don't worry!0 -
Does anyone know where I can part ex my New Road Angel which is fully subscribed until Mid February for an equivalent Sat Nav. The Road Angel is vital to alerting you to safety cameras so I would want a similar idea with a Sat Nav
I have put it on eBay which seems to have a glut of them at the moment
