Garmin are better than tomTom.
But I prefer my own satnav - the one in my 'ead!0 -
On the other hand, the Tom Tom One is on special offer just now for £150, including UK and Europe maps. I have the older version, and it's a brilliant piece of kit, wouldn't be without it, but then I have not tried any others, so can't set myself up as an expert. I've used the Europe maps, and it's door to door, t'riffic. That's a very good price too, but the speed cameras is a must-have add on. Sorry, "safety cameras!"
Of course, unless you do regular trips to various destinations, I'm not sure if it would be worth it, but it has certainly changed me from a sceptic to a keen user. Of course they are not perfect, what is, but once you are used to its little foibles it becomes difficult to imagine being without it. Just my opinion, of course.0 -
I've had a Navman for 2 years and have just changed to a Tomtom, the Tomtom is much easier to use and gives clearer instructions.
I bought the Tomtom Cracker (xmas special edition) from Dixons for £124, it was on special offer at the time.
Hope this helpsSome days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -
I would go for tomtom. If I had the money I'd get one of the one's with traffic built in, if it works supposedly the tomtom receives traffic info (free) and if the time stuck in the jam is likely to be longer than an alternate route, it sends you the alternate route. I tried it once on the older pay version (via bluetooth and mobile internet) and it sent me off the motorway on an alternate route. I laughed when I went back on the motorway further along and recognised some of the same cars I saw eariler, I suppose the only advantage was that I managed to keep moving rather than crawling along on the motorway..0

I'm biased in favour of TomTom as I've had one for 2 years & it's never let me down.Winnings

Tomtom and ViaMichelin come with a map guarantee to ensure you get an up to date map, Garmin are changing to new maps(Europe 2008) but not out yet in your price range. The ViaMichelin x970T(new version 7 software) for £145(BT shop) is good value as it comes with Europe, bluetooth(handsfree calling) and a traffic receiver.0

TomTom for meMy second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being, hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.-Erma Bombeck-~ Member of the MSE Celebdaq Minileague ~0
