I work in a shop where I deal with customers face to face and I am accountable for what comes out of my mouth. Someone in a call centre knows full well they can do what they like and be less accountable. I believe if you work in an area of the business that takes the risk of the business such as a Manager or Senior manager or Director you should have to give your full name as you are and should be accountable. And if you want to hide away or don’t like being accountable, do something else.
But you can do this without knowing someones last name either by asking for an extension number or department I was the only one with my name working within my department, I have had co-workers who have had customers message disturbing messages to them because they didn't get what they wanted or threatened because of a tiny mistake that was rectified within minutes. I take accountability for my actions but I also want to protect myself from the not so nice members of our society.
Senior managers/directors yes/maybe as they are more visible, company website, media etc but in your own words you said it was a back office clerk/admin who replied. Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. I do see how you might feel vulnerable as there are some pretty weird members of society which we often have the deal with on a daily basis (which is probably why it is called the frontline!) Fortunately there are plenty of lovely customers too which you naturally WANT to help0

Not used them for years, had an issue with a TV that was days inside/outside 12 months, i forget which but thought a fair compromise should have been offered.
Puzzled how you can damage a CPU socket by taking a photo of it?
If the CPU is in there you need to remove it anyway, if you already removed it then its free to view and take pictures.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
