Yes I am aware of that.. But tomorrow would have been my 4th sick note. So as you said paid in arrears.. I should be getting award this month right?

It's Sunday and weekends are very often much quieter, you need to try and have some patience while you wait for someone to answer.

OK. So usually lcwra awards have a three assessment period waiting period. This is three FULL assessment periods after the start date of the decision.


The easiest way to work out when this is, is to have the start date of the decision, then go to home screen, payments. You'll have a screen showing you each assessment period you've been paid and the dates of that assessment period.


First look at where the start date falls. If it falls in the middle of an assessment period, then disregard that whole assessment period. Start your count from the next one.


Count three assessment periods after this one. Then click on the fourth assessment period. This is the one the lcwra award will begin payment. If there isn't a fourth one yet, then the payment is not due to start yet.


Please note, the above only applies with the relevant period applies, which is usually does except in terminally ill cases or review decisions.


Regarding deductions. You can phone debt management to agree a lower repayment for debts they hold for you. These will be things such as overpayments on past benefit claims.


You can not phone debt management to agree a lower repayment for any UC advances present on your current UC claim. This is because the amount was already agreed over the phone with you, so can not be changed (although you care able to phone debt management to repay a remaining advance as a lump sum if you should ever wish to do so).


UC is able to defer advances for a short period to help you get on your feet again. This deferral has to be agreed by UC (not debt management). The deferral starts from the next AP end date after the deferral is agreed. If for example you agree it after the AP end date, but before the payment for that AP gets to you, the advance will still be deducted on that payment as it wasn't on the system in time.


UC can only defer advances for a maximum of three months. This is less if it's spread over multiple advances. They should not be deferring it any longer than this (and in most cases the system will block them from doing so). So I wouldn't rely on advance repayments being deferred longer as legally they're only supposed to do so if a debt relief order has been received.

My assessment and decision was done on the same day which was Friday just gone the 6th

Sorry to butt in here, but I may end up with a LCWRA award down the line and want to clarify - do you mean 3 full periods after the WCA decision, or the initial decision to award UC (assuming you've provided evidence right from the start of the claim)? From what I've read over the past few months I thought it was after 3 APs from the start of the claim altogether so now I'm confused :huh:

Sorry but this is not correct. LCWRA element waiting period starts from when a fit note was first handed in and not from the date of the decision.


When it's due to paid in this case for the OP then i'm unsure. Bad day for me today and brain fog and pain has got the better of me.


I'm sure someone will come along soon an answer the question.
