How much is my CCJ going to affect me?

Context:
I have worked abroad for the last 5 years I have a house in the UK which I Iet out during that time. I have now returned to my house to live in the UK again.
While I was abroad I gained a CCJ because bills that I knew nothing about were sent to my UK property. I only realised that I had a CCJ when I randomly checked my credit report online.
I paid the debt in full the same day that I found out about it.
I am going to apply to the court to have this CCJ removed from my record but I really think that it depends on the company involved agreeing to sign a 'consent order', basically their approval to have the CCJ removed. But assuming I don't manage to do this...
Question:
How much is this CCJ going to affect my life? I've just moved back to the UK and I need to get a car and it's going to require finance - probably some kind of PCP contract.
I need to get a mobile phone which I would usually do on some kind of monthly contract.
In 3 years I was hoping to move house and get a new mortgage.
Money isn't a problem, I have a reasonable wage and a good credit score (aside from the CCJ) and can afford finance comfortably. But I guess this means nothing if I am denied finance because of this CCJ.
Am I screwed for the next 6 years until this CCJ drops off my record?

  • When was the CCJ awarded?

A paid CCJ lessens in impact over time.

Ignore your credit score as it’s not a real thing used in lending.

The ccj will drop off 6 years from the date it was awarded.
  • It'll affect you a lot, but it doesn't mean you're 'screwed' for the next 6 years, depending on the sort of credit you're talking about and when you intend to apply for it.

CCJ was awarded about a year ago. So about 5 years left >.<

Unfortunately I need to do a lot of this stuff now or soon. What do you think about the credit examples I gave above? Do you think PCP finance will be hard with a year old CCJ? What about monthly mobile contract or mortgage (mortgage isn't such a big deal, I will probably stay where I am for a few years, but I had planned to move at some point before the 5 years would be up)?

phone is fine. I have 6 ccjs and defaults. My credit was the worst about a year or two ago. I managed to get vodafone, 3, 02, sky, BT and Virgin mobile contracts. The only company that rejected me was EE and they continue to do so! So annoying cause thats the real one i want

you may need to get a sim only first, just get a basic sim only contract and upgrade to a good package after 14 days. 02 offered me an i phone max worth 1200 after 6months

So dont worry about your phone -

i cant comment on the car finance
  • Why did you get so many contracts?

Thanks that's the kind of info I was hoping for, if I can get my phone sorted then that's one stress off. The car is the big one though,

Has anyone got any insight into how a CCJ might affect a PCP application?

You wont get the best rates but if the CCJ is satisfied you should still be able to get a PCP contract.

The same reason they have multiple bank accounts etc.
    And multiple debts :eyeroll:

An iPhone is all well and good.
    But do you “need” one?
A SIM-only contract and a cheap-ish Android device is more than sufficient.

PCP is easier to get since the loan is tied to an asset (the car) but you may get offered higher rates.
