Overdraft problem - any advice?

Hi Folks, new to this site.
Thought I would try for any advice.
I received a letter from Lloydstsb last month(22/10/07) saying my overdraft(£300) was due for review on 19th November, to contact to discuss.
I phoned them that day, person I spoke to said it was a continual overdraft, it would continue as before.
I then put money into my account yesterday to cover a direct debit. On checking my balance on the internet at night, I discovered my balance was nil.
On querying this, I was told that my overdraft had expired and was not being renewed.
On top of this I was now due £75 fees for being overdrawn.
I explained that I had received no notification that the overdraft was being removed, the only letter I received was the one recived on 22/10 to which I made the call.
I have now been told this person made a mistake and my overdraft should be removed.
Can the bank remove this and charge me these fees without even a letter?
They have said a letter will follow explaining the fees.
I have protested that Had I been made aware at my phone call, I would have arranged payment of the overdraft. They have said every call is recorded and that they will listen to the conversation and get back to me.
Anyone else has this type of problem?
