Hi
Hope someone can advise me about a claim under an extended warranty? I bought a LG 3D 4K tv about 4years ago it went wrong and I contacted the company who I purchased it from, they collected it and replaced the main PCB and repaired, they returned it about 2 weeks later. But when I went to try the 3D option it stated that it does not support it,so I contacted the company again who took it away but were unable to repair it correctly as LG does not make the part anymore. I was told to call Retracare who offered the warranty, after the lady called the company who confirmed that it wasnt repairable that they would refund my orignal cost of the tv and someone would contact me to arrange payment. Due to the lady saying they would refund the cost I went and bought a new tv. After not hearing from Retracare I rung them up only to be told that they were not refunding my money and would be repairing it where do I stand as they originally advised it cant be repaired and would pay out on the warranty?

Is anything actually broadcast or issued in 3D anymore.
It was a gimmick that failed.Ex forum ambassador

If it’s like my LG TV, I can turn 3D on for anything, DVD, stream or broadcast. I appreciate it’s not “true” 3D and it’s effectiveness varies across different styles, eg. animated films are very convincing in 3D mode.
Unless you have it in writing that they were going to offer you a full refund, I think you’re stuck with a repair. If they did refund, I suspect the amount would be reduced to reflect use to date.0 -
Is the TV you bought to replace it 3D?I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

It was a gimmick that failed.
Indeed has failed everytiem it has been rolled out as a ooooh look at this thing. In the 18xx's first I believe.
And little has changed.
Little can change. "2D" film actually covers enough criteria to be called 3D as well in case you care!
I'd only call any of them 2.5D though.
Still maybe in 20 years when it is a real time generated film by computers and you can actually look around as you please it may work. I doubt it though. (current "3d" adds 1 more criteria above "2d" and it is camera based so it really does not work)0 -
What lady? I've never known an extended warranty that would replace a 4 year old tv with a new one. They usually replace it with a refurb, something equal to the used value of your old one. What does your policy say about it? Does it say you'll get a new one after 4 years?after the lady called the company who confirmed that it wasnt repairable that they would refund my orignal cost of the tv and someone would contact me to arrange payment. Due to the lady saying they would refund the cost I went and bought a new tv.0 -

I can't see them refunding either (as the OP didn't pay them in the first place) but provided that the terms of the warranty the OP has are the same as for a warranty being issued now, they state that they will pay in full for a new TV if the faulty one can't be repaired.
https://www.retra.co.uk/retracareThis means that if a product covered by Retracare breaks down outside the manufacturer’s warranty period, we will cover the cost of repair, including parts and labour charges. If it can’t be repaired, then we’ll cover the cost of a new, like-for-like, replacement.0 -
4 year warranty on an LG? Is the retailer Richer Sounds then, or did you buy an extended warranty from a third party? No free lunch, and no free laptop

4 years of use before it ‘went wrong’?
Odd
Have you seen a newer model you prefer then?0
