House mate speeding notice

Agreed, it's nothing to do with the OP, except that - as a decent human being - he may want to help his housemate, who is unlikely to be up to speed with UK motoring law.It was absolutely irrelevant. The paragraphs make no difference. The advice is the same. Nothing to do with the OP. This cannot and has not changed. The legal wording, paragraph or section number are entirely irrelevant to this advice. If the OP was involved, which they wasn't, then the advice would be return the form. Again paragraph and sections would be entirely irrelevant to this. It's sad to see these debates continuously repeated. No one cares. Cept the poster who argues with you, making them equally sad.
I accept that's unlikely, as he seems to have no hesitation in opening the housemate's mail.
If he does decide to help, then the paras and sections may be highly relevant, since we only have the OP's conjecture that his housemate doesn't own the BMW in question.0 -

Given the op isn't either, he's the last one who should be giving advice.0 -

Of course you were gonna chime in. Not even slightly relevant. Gets yer jollies from it though?0 -
So basically, then, this thread should have ended with "give your flatmate his letter and mind your own business"?
Bit boring, don't you think? Unlikely to attract much of an audience.0 -
Not nearly as boring as paragraphs and sections of laws that are irrelevant and not helpful. Not needed, not money saving, not interesting and apparently not relenting.TooManyPoints wrote: »So basically, then, this thread should have ended with "give your flatmate his letter and mind your own business"?

Why do you insist on maintaining that the law cited is irrelevant?
I agree that it is not the OP's business. However, he has clearly made it his business for reasons best known to him. That's why he posted his question. Short of simply saying "mind your own business" (which, although it can be suggested to him, is hardly likely to satisfy his request) how do you suggest that his flatmate's position is fully explained without mentioning "paragraphs and sections"? You suggest the advice is not money saving. Well if his mate is convicted under S172 it will cost him quite a few hundred pounds. If that can be avoided by his taking the advice offered here then it certainly is money saving. If it's so uninteresting to you (which it seems it may not be in view of your continued involvement, even if it is simply to slag off everybody you disagree with) why don't you simply leave the thread to those who are interested?0 -
Because it is entirely and absolutely irrelevant. Put simply what you and your jousting partner are saying is extraneous. It doesn't matter, isn't being asked about, doesn't affect the outcome and isn't in the OP's interest. It's also all of those things for the person being affected by the notice. The legal position doesn't need explaining as it is extremely simple (as we are given to believe thus far). The flatmate has no concern with the vehicle, they can put that on the form and return it. At no point is the paragraph, section, verse or chapter relevant or helpful or of interest. It's not money saving as the flat mate has not even been made aware of the situation and is therefore not in a position to make a decision as to wether or not they will reply meaning the money saving element of your posts is tenuous at best. It is however tedious. And again, the paragraph etc is still irrelevant as the advice would still be return the form with the details. At no point is the paragraph or section relevant. If you don't like being pulled up on your failings why don't you leave the thread? Or at least come back with something of relevance.TooManyPoints wrote: »Why do you insist on maintaining that the law cited is irrelevant?

That's all that needed saying, surely. No need for anything else.TooManyPoints wrote: »So basically, then, this thread should have ended with "give your flatmate his letter and mind your own business"?
