Switching supplier

  • Utilita are prepay (in the main) and are therefore expensive.

Pay monthly is normally a lot cheaper than prepay. Just make sure you can handle monthly payments and the most important point, is make sure you give regular readings to any supplier you go with. Monthly readings at the minimum.

If you don't choose monthly DD then you are screening out most of the competitive tariffs, though not all.
You can't pro-rata your consumption from monthly to annual just by taking a single month in autumn when the heating is not on-you need a year's kWh usage.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

The figures given earlier in regards to my consumption is directly from my Utilita account which provides both monthly and annual consumption. I wouldn't know where to look or even start trying to beat the quote I got off uswitch without uswitch if that makes sense. Is uswitch the best comparison site in terms of energy comparison. Or is it worth checking all the comparison sites.

Do your comparisons in uSwitch - 3 times : 1) dual gas and electric (as you have done), 2) just electric and 3) just electric.

The general school of thought these days is that dual fuel does not give the best benefit.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

To be honest I have never thought of looking at it seperately, always had dual fuel so when I do actually check I just compare the dual fuel.

Thank you to all who have taken the time to comment on my post, I appreciate your input.
