Switching supplier
Just been checking my energy bills using uswitch and the result was a surprise. It states I can save £139 per year. So effectively I am over paying for my energy with Utilita. When I joined they installed their smart meters.
The supplier (bulb) quoting a saving of £139 show they can't offer me the tariff because smart meters are already installed at the property. So am I stuck with Utilita? Or is there a way around it.

Do your own sums - the saving quoted will be against Utilita's standard tariff not the one you've been on.
You can still swop - forget the Smart meter as it will become dumb and you will have to submit readings manually.
When swopping use your actual consumption for the 12 months - just do sme simple sums.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I have the Utilita app on my phone which allows me to check my consumption over the last month or year. Gas currently shows I've paid £606 last 12 month. And Electric shows £573 for the year. I'm no good at this, hence the reason I checked via uswitch. Following your advice however, I will dig depper and compare the tariffs. Bulb however are stating I will have to switch to monthly DD because I already have a smart meter in the property.0

Is that a problem ? - paying by DD is often cheaper than paying on receipt of bill.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
OK done some digging.
Currently paying the following with Utilita
ELECTRIC
First 2kwh 33.369 then 17.64p with 0 standing charge.
GAS
First 2kwh 18.504 then 4.197 with 0 standing charge.
Results from Bulb / Uswitch
ELECTRIC
13.75 per kwh 30.42 standng Charge
GAS
3.61 per kwh 28.31 standing Charge.
Saving £137 per year.0 -
What's your consumption in kwh for gas and electric ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
-
Electricity
Last 12 month - 2795.55kwh
Last 30 days - 214.65kwh
Gas
Last 12 month - 13102.16kwh
last 30 days - 213.56kwh0 -
paying by direct debit is not a problem, i have always paid by prepayment meters. Which I believe is a little more expensive than paying by other payment methods0

Equivalent toELECTRIC
First 2kwh 33.369 then 17.64p with 0 standing charge.
GAS
First 2kwh 18.504 then 4.197 with 0 standing charge.
17.64p per kwh with 31.458p standing charge
4.197p per kwh with 28.614p standing charge
Assuming you use gas and electricity (>2kwh) every day.
Bulb beats all four of those figures, though you still might find cheaper out there for dual or individual supplies.0 -

If the tariff is subject to not cuyrrently habving smart meters, but agreeing to have them fitted after the switch, then if you already have smart meters you are not eligible.
So scroll down to the next best tariff.
Or as you are saying this is Bulb, scroll up to an even cheaper tariff as Bulb are not usually the cheapest.
If you really do want to switch to Bulb, I know their vari tariff does not have the requirements you mention ... but it can be beaten by several other suppliers & tariffs.0 -

As I said, there are a number of cheaper suppliers & tariffs that are so much cheaper available.
Or are you really that keen to join a company already £26m in debt?0
