Absolutely. Buying agents are pretty much the lowest of the low, down there with their brethren estate agents. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I haven't read all the posts so my apologies if I have missed anything.
This post is literally us. Our house has been up for just shy of a year. We've had two offers, but had to say no. The reason why? We're in a shared ownership property bought through our local council and we have to sell it at a price set by them.
If we sell at that exact price (currently around £117k), we walk away owing nothing and gaining nothing. If we sell above that price we would walk away with a small amount of shares. If we sell at the price the last buyer wanted (£105k) we'd owe loads back to the housing scheme, which they would want in one payment which we don't have, and then we'd have to find the money to move somewhere else.
So we're certainly not being difficult or anything, but our hands our tied as to what we sell for.:j:jOur gorgeous baby boy born 2nd May 2011 - 12 days overdue!!:j:j0 -

You have obviously missed the title of this thread: When a listing just sits there without sale or reduction.
I realise it must be painful for you to see a house that just isn't selling, and to wonder what is going on inside the seller's head while it goes progressively more stale. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Why on earth would I care? :huh:0 -

It sounds like you are trapped in an unusual price predicament, which is probably explained with the advert. Maybe you should take yours off the market for a year or so, to freshen up the listing?
The house on this thread is not shared ownership though. It is just sitting there going progressively more and more stale. The owners don't seem to realise that progressively stale listings become progressively less likely, not more likely, to sell. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I was just expressing my amazement that the topic posted has been able to sustain such a lengthy discussion. I wish you the best of luck with your search.0 -

It's not the one I am looking at, but it has been for sale for about 2 years without selling. Non-standard, ageing, softwood timber build, so not really eligible for a mortgage. Better houses in the area are advertised for about £200,000 to £300,000 less.https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-63650143.html
