Prehaps you should tell that to the banks starting with MBNA, Capital one, HSBC and Natwest as they are the ones that have turned me down this year for DHs bad credit.

Mmmm, ok. Try going bankrupt then come back in 2-years time and tell us all about it.

Scaremongering!! Been in receipt of a dozen DCA letters a day and the phone ringing constantly from 8am to 9pm have we?

You don't know what you're talking about.

Tell you what, why don't you get a joint bank account with my OH, and then try to apply for a mortgage.

You'll be telling us next that the same DCAs shouldn't be phoning 5-times a day and how wrong it is. And who could you complain to.

Out of curiosity, what has your OH done to stop these phone calls and letters? Has he done the post BR clean up as suggested?

    :j :j

it's been *just* over 6 years now (and one month i think). although he might have had the automatic discharge in 2004 (if i've read up correctly).

as i said my credit rating is good and never had any problems i just don't want his past to affect what we do together. As we're moving in a months time (new house in my maiden name as only just got married) i want bills etc in both names.... just don't know if this is ok really.

In that case you should be just fine. :)

He will (if asked) have to state whether he has ever been bankrupt, but this is only really relevant for mortgage applications nowadays.

As tigerfeet2006 says, make sure that the CRF's have been updated correctly so that everything drops off at the 6 year mark.

Maybe it's because your credit rating is so good Broken hearted, that they realise you'll pay your bills on time and never incur any interest, and you're not a potentially profitable customer.  :D

Yes, ignore what we say, we're making it up.

Why not get three joint bank accounts with your OH tomorrow. And also make sure that you put him on the house deeds too.

No one can touch you. The law says so.

    aly,

Your Posts are usually well informed and imaginative; howevever, some of what you've said in this Thread is just not true,:confused: and tbh is unnecessarily alarmist.

If it is genuinely your experience then you've either been terribly unlucky or very careless.:confused:

I'm one of the unlucky ones who gets hammered by credit companies despite haveing a very good credit score and paying all my own bills on time. Everytime I apply for anything I get a standard reply of you are linked to someone with credit problems so I can't have the card/loan/bank account. It's not supposed to but it does.

You should get yourself unlinked from the other person.... Its not hard to do put a correction on your credit file...... and then be very carefull not to have join..... anything!
