If currently working for a worldwide company, in the UK,
and you get a transfer of 6-12 months to work in their abroad department USA, then while you are working in the states, then how would they typically pay you?
Would they pay you into a new USA bank account? and pay you in dollars there?
or they would continue to pay you in your UK bank account, in pound sterlin ££ ?
If the later, how would you use funds from the already open UK bank account, if you are in the states? or would you just use the UK bank Debit card in the USA shops etc?

No doubt your company has done this before so ask THEM how they will pay you and whether you need a US account.
They are the ones that have a better idea than anybody here0 -
I think the word "if" is significant here.
OP do you actually work for a US company or are you hoping to ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
When I worked for 3 years in the USA I was still paid as normal to my UK bank account. I opened a US bank account and transferred money as a when I needed it.0

There is no golden rule that applies to all cases. So ask your current/prospective employer.
Make sure to ask for a decent amount of expenses to be paid while abroad and maybe a pay raise to account for the falling value of the £ is till being paid in £. Also open a Starling (or similar) account for no fee good rate currency conversions when using your UK card abroad.0
