Anyone got a Current Bank (not basic) with a CCJ

Hi folks,
As title suggest. I have been living on basic accounts for a long time and i am interested in upgrading. It seems a current account is a no go if you have a CCJ. I have 6 - satisfied. 3 dropping off in 2 years, one in 3 years and two currently in dispute but about a year old.
I have seven or eight basic accounts and wondering how to go about upgrading. Will they let me? I dont want a record of searches yet as ive had too many so need to keep it down for the next year.
Anyone applied for one with a CCJ and been accepted? Or has anyone upgraded from a basic to a current?
Thanks

I've given my details in your CC query thread.
Since my CCJ I've opened up another two normal current accounts, no issues, no referrals, no further info wanted
You may want to say how much your CCJ's are for.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Yes, thanks for that info. Much appreciated. I am looking for a credit card and current bank account so both apply in my situation.
CCJ - 6 of them
400
700
500
900
2400
600
They are my total amounts.
So when you applied for your current account you had an oustanding CCJ? Was it cleared or still oustanding for 4k i belive you said? Was this a brand new fresh application or upgrade from your basic account. How long after you got your CCJ did you apply?0 -
What do you need in a full blown current account that a basic one isn’t offering already?0

it looks better on your credit file and also you get more benefits with a current account. You get zero with basic account plus you get an offline card and you have an overdraft option and a cheque book
Quite a few benefits0 -
Your credit file won’t look any different if you have a basic account or a standard or packaged account.
It just shows up as a current account.
Overdrafts shouldn’t be used (ever) and cheque books are rarely used these-days.0 -
I don’t have a CCJ but I do have a very poor credit rating (30 odd defaulted accounts- due to cancer- then all written off)
I have a full Rewards account with NatWest and I absolutely love it- my Rewards topped up my holiday money this year. I travel quite a lot so the offline card has been very useful.
In answer to the above poster asking why the OP wants a full account as they’re no different- a lot of banks don’t offer contactless or Apple Pay on their basic accounts. To me that was a massive reason for ditching my basic account for a full current account- especially as I struggle with Chip and PIN due to a learning difficulty. Plus with contactless being a massive part of daily life (for example on the Underground etc, and contactless terminals in various other places) contactless is undoubtedly pretty useful.
And as for never using an overdraft- not everybody is rich enough to have a massive savings pot to just dip into in an emergency!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
To answer your questions:
So when you applied for your current account you had an oustanding CCJ?
--- When I applied for two new normal current accounts my CCJ was outstanding.
Was it cleared or still oustanding for 4k i belive you said?
-- It was over £4k and outstanding.
Was this a brand new fresh application or upgrade from your basic account.
-- brand new two applications, never banked with either company before and the CCJ was loud and waving on my credit reference reports.
How long after you got your CCJ did you apply?
-- about 2 years for the first new current account.
-- over four years for the second new current account, with a cheque book.
-- I only finished settling it recently and is only now showing as satisfied on one credit report.
-- I also had several defaults, missed payments, late payments, payday loans and an agreement to pay showing.
-- I've opened up numerous savings accounts.
-- I'm being constantly offered an overdraft/loan with my own bank.
-- time / distance between the CCJ is a healer.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -

Thanks for your reply. I am sorry to hear about your cancer situation, i hope you are now better.
Did you get the current account with Natwest before or after the defaults were written off? Or did you have the current account before any defaults were on your file0 -

That is good to hear. Hopefully i can apply for one shortly too. Apart from the CCJ is your credit record clean? Defaults? late payments in the last few years etc - At the time of applying for a new current bank account0
