Hi, first time poster on here,
Im desperate for advice, sorry if this is under the wrong category.
I am trying to get my credit score back on track as in the past I was not great at looking after my money and had loans, payday loans, credit/store cards. I wasn't prepared to be an adult, if you're young, foolish and offered instant money you take it, well I did stupidly.
Now my problem is I cant remember who I borrowed from and Ive moved around alot, couldnt tell you dates and how many houses I've lived in and had credit, I have looked on Experian, clear score and another free one but all say different scores and creditors. Surely there has to be one debt register with every loan, card ect on it under my name. Where would I even start trying to sort my finance hell out!? Who do I contact, and if I cant remember references for loans or the address I was at, what do I do?
Im 31 and I want to one day have a mortgage and a family but with my credit rating its impossible. Any help very much appreciated!

Get your credit report, see who you owe and then contact them direct.
PS -Forget your credit score, it means nothing at all.0 -
You need to check the list of both closed and open credit accounts reported to the three Credit Reference Agencies (CRAs). This will give you a list of all creditors who are reporting your management of credit accounts to the CRAs. This will all be in your credit report. The three CRAs are Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.
Each file should have different accounts reported to them. It isn't often that they are all the same. A creditor can report to all 3 CRAs, or to just 1 or 2.Danwells888 wrote: »...Im 31 and I want to one day have a mortgage and a family but with my credit rating its impossible...

Look on all 3 credit files for accounts and balances.
Ignore the scores on all.0 -
Sounds like were talking about a while ago ... how long roughly?
If longer than 6 years ago then these debts might be statute barred, so technically you wouldn't have to pay them back, if you want to be nice you can however still pay it and there's nothing to stop them chasing you for it (but they will eventually stop), they just can't take it to court to get a judgement.
I would have thought you would have heard from some of these debts though, even in the form of debt collectors chasing you. If that's not the case, then maybe they've lost track of you somewhere along the line, although I can't see how if these debts are listed on your credit file, a quick search would show them your current address?
I can't work out how you've not been contacted by debt collectors on this, have you just been ignoring post?
If for whatever reason they haven't managed to link addresses or something or are unable to find you for some reason then waking up sleeping debts might sort out whatever this missing link is and you might find yourself innundated with letters from said debt collectors.
If you can work out why they haven't managed to link your addresses that would be the first step I think ... It might be worth letting these ones stay sleeping until they find you / they drop off your file / they become statue barred
(This isn't really advice, I'm kinda just thinking out loud)0
