No responses - so is that it then?

  • Oh well, I only had one company - Barclays - say they had received it. Guess it's time to move on then and assume they didn't get there. Shame. I assumed the email clarification x 10 would have been reliable. Live and learn.

Have you had anything at all from Resolver since they confirmed the complaints had been submitted?

I submitted 2 last-minute ones via Resolver on deadline day. These were for DH (I did my own and had payouts over a year ago:j) and he'd always maintained he never had PPI but I tried these 2 of his on the offchance.

I had the initial, pretty instant emails from Resolver saying they'd been submitted successfully and then this morning I received emails from Resolver saying it's been a week now and Lloyds and Halifax hadn't responded yet and advised me to chase them up.

I'm just hoping the lateness in the bank's response is because of the massive amount of complaints they received on the final day;).
  • In case useful - I just followed up on a Resolver auto-message saying 'It's been a week...Want to follow up? Barclays hasn't replied yet...

Here's what I found out & to put it into perspective:

1). I put in 38 PPI claims going back to 1983 - all before the deadline.
2). I've only received 10 official 'we have received your claim' directly from banks via email.
3). When I spoke to Barclays PPI Dept just now, they said there's a 3-4 week backlog.
4). They said the Resolver reference number is irrelevant as far as they were concerned.
5). Barclays would respond via post if they received my claim (via Resolver).
6). They hoped to respond within the next 2-3 weeks, when they've caught up.
7). If I hadn't received the Barclays letter within 2 weeks from today - they said call again & they'll search their files to confirm if they had received my claim.

So I believe it's a waiting game, but if Resolver has failed to register my other 28 claims I will be very, very, very angry indeed. (Understatement).

Let's please keep eachother updated on this subject.

The forum was telling people not to use Resolver so close to the deadline. Resolver is just a free-to-use E-mail template and there are therefore no service guarantees. In the final days, Resolver was congested and so even less reliable.

If your complaints were not received you will have no comeback I'm afraid.
  • I used Resolver 1 week before deadline & earlier...not just 1, 2 days before deadline.

The forum was telling people not to use Resolver for several weeks before the deadline. The FCA adverts were causing increased numbers of complaints for months.

You used a (free) third party to send your complaint, but neither the bank nor Resolver will accept any responsibility for complaints never received no matter how "angry" you may end up being...

Just as an aside, did you actually have any PPI or were the complaints merely speculative?
  • Yeah got it
  • Interesting. Scrimpess, I received all the initial emails from Resolver to say they had been submitted. I have also been receiving the emails telling me it has been a week and to send an email....I received this reminder for all of them. So you've given me a little bit of hope again - thank you!!! LondonCentral - I am thinking they will have got through but there is a serious backlog. Time will tell.

These are automated "responses" from Resolver. In eight weeks you will also receive an automated "reminder" that you can escalate your complaint to the Ombudsman if you wish. Unfortunately, that will not be the case if your complaint was not received or was too late for the deadline.

This was the reason forum contributors were telling everyone not to use Resolver in the final weeks and days before the deadline.
