There was a break down van that had parked in the opening with a pipeline from it to the lorry - someone said the lorry had spilled oil
This "someone" whoever he was obviously had no idea. What would a breakdown van do with leaking oil, it wouldn't have anywhere to store it
Sounds more like an airline, and they were trying to build the air pressure up to enable the truck to be moved, 'cos it wont go anywhere without air (unless the spring brakes were wound off)

Do you honestly think the driver would have just stopped and let leaking oil drip on the carriageway?
  • What if the Lorry was also stuck in traffic at the time it broke down? There is a multitude of reasons why they may not have been able to pull off the road.

If only Fred had been there. He'd have shown them how to do it.

I would guess they didn't choose where to break down.

This morning I was held up for a long tine (7 miles of traffic) at Marks Tey on the A12 all because a lorry had broken down right by a very large opening off the road.

Why did the pl**ker driver stop dead in the road instead of pulling off?

The police were on the scene but that normally means even longer delays.

With any luck the driver will get prosecuted for causing an unnecessary obstruction.

Why are these lorry's not better maintained?

You'd happily see public money wasted?

Easily explained if it failed whilst stopped in traffic, on a flat surface.

I am quite sure if the lorry could have been moved the police would have had it moved

Not if there's some lucrative overtime in the offing.
  • It's good to see the OP having a wee day out and gets an opportunity to see what the rest of us have to cope with everyday.

And then moan about it on a forum!!
