Come on OP tell us the truth how much compo are you after £5k ?? or more .
You asked < Any advice would be much appreciated.>
But as usual get ratty when you are actually given the advice you asked for .
  • Correct advice was given in post #2....everything since has just gone round in circles.

I'll bite my lip a bit here as your attitude OP is frankly disgusting and I'm not sure how much help you actually want as you seem to be ignoring all the questions put to you. I'll try again:

    1) Did you stay the entire week?

    2) What did they say when you complained during your stay?

    3) How much compensation are you after?

    4) Are you able to post a link to the property?
  • Aylesbury Duck, seriously, you think £30 is adequate for my dog going through pain and suffering?
Yes, in the circumstances, because you showed a degree of contributory negligence. What would you suggest is an adequate sum?
Would it be if it was a child?
It wasn't, though. In the same way a microwave is not a swimming pool. You can't claim compo for a lot of what-ifs that are just fantasy.
None of this is 'unwarranted' but thank you, your response in particular has made me more determined!
You're welcome. I hope it has girded your (semi-naked) loins :rotfl:

    Instead of saying:
Any advice would be much appreciated.
It would have been much easier to just spell out what you wanted to hear. Instead, you're now lashing out at people who are providing realistic and reasonable advice. If that's how you propose composing your complaint, you'll get nowhere.

For what it's worth, I think that £30 isn't unreasonable and I'd suggest that if it were £130 (or a sum perhaps equivalent to the excess on your pet insurance claim) then that would also be reasonable. How much was the veterinary treatment your dog needed in the end?
  • OP you are better off seeking legal advice, this isn't really a consumer rights issue.

If the owner and their agent is deemed to have been negligent you may have a claim but this forum isn't the place to get advice on a complicated matter like this.

Microwave missing is the sort of thing where a bottle of wine goes a long way to appease a small annoyance.

The place not being as described is hard to say, as another poster asked, a link to the place you rented might help.

The OP did indicate they were flouncing off a few posts ago.
  • Third time lucky OP as you seem to be ignoring this, yet coming on and replying to other posts.

Can you supply a link to the accomadation - Or is there something listed there you don't want us to see?

Plus, how much was the vet bill? Given that the dog's situation was the OP's primary concern, the amount of money they had to spend on treatment (and if done through pet insurance, the excess) would give an idea of what might be a reasonable contribution from the letting agent.
  • I would consider it a bonus that the window cleaner hasn't sued you for distress and trauma of what he saw or could have potentially seen though the patio doors!
