hi so me and my hubby have just sold our house and was about to apply for a mortgage.
We have had issues with our credit file however we have been working hard for over 18 months to get it back up to scratch.
MY husband on equifax credit file had managed to get up to 395 points and we was expecting him to be in the good section on the first of September with him keeping up to date with his credit card payments and paying it off in FULL.
Shockingly his credit score dropped by 36 points putting him back in the poor section.
we called up equifax to see what the heck has happened as we have made sure we have everything in place for out mortgage. The person on the end of the phone said that there has been a UK comparison score on everybody credit file to which his score has been recalculated?????? what the hell? never herd of this ? has anyone else.
They to sated that it has dropped because of the late payments back in 2017 and having 3 searches on his account. however these have been on his file all this time and he score has been increasing. Me and my husband are terrified if we will get a mortgage now with the score being so low again! please can anyone help give us advise or has this happened to anyone else.

Hi, don't worry about your score as mortgage lenders neither use nor see your credit score. Mortgage lenders score you independently against their criteria and policies using the DATA held in your credit files, added to the DATA you submit in your mortgage application, added to the DATA they may already hold on you as an existing or returning customer.
Edit: You posted a few months ago that you had an IVA which ended February 2019. You will need to find yourself a good mortgage broker who specialises in finding products for borrowers with an adverse credit history.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

The scores aren’t real so don’t worry.
They’re purely there to make you panic (as proven) and to sell you “improvement” products and services.0 -
Please do some research, credit scores are used as marketing tools, credit reference agencies are not lenders, so why would any score they generate be of any relevance ?
It’s an indication of how lenders may view you, nothing more.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. How would a score determine if your good for a mortgage ?
It doesn't show a lender if you have any debts or not.
What's your score tepot ?
If both of your reports are in good order then apply for a mortgage.0 -
