Parking ticket- please help

Hi all

I got a on windscreen ticket from a shopping centre last Sunday about not parking in marked bay- clearly I was. The place is managed by UKPC and my car is a company car. I have read the newbies post but am still a little confused as what I should be doing next. (Am thinking should just pay and avoid the trouble (plus discounted rate but thinking I should not let them get away with this!) Thanks to your great advice, I have not contacted them to contest (was going to do it immediately). Do I now wait for the letter to come through the post? Do I write to them? I have inform the company not to take any actions and just let me know when the letter arrives.
Thanks in advance for your help and really great work you all doing!

THANKS!

Go to the NEWBIE sticky post # 1 and read the advice written by Edna Basher which is specifically for company/lease/hire cars. You will need to scroll quite a long way through the post and it is just after the standard appeal written in blue text (don't use that one!)
  • Hi

Thanks for the quick reply- I have read the most of the post (very long but informative) but a going through information and terms overload! May I ask, do I wait for the NTK and them appeal as registered keeper or go and appeal using info on the windscreen ticket? Thanks am very confused and appreciate your guidance.

    Thanks again
  • By the way, I have tried calling the shop I was shopping in and they said they do not have anything to do with the private car park- when I pushed, he said he has been told to just tell me to contact the number on the notice. When I asked who told you, he said the security guys....

If you scrolled down to nearly the end of post # 1 of the NEWBIE sticky you would have found this sage advice: -
    * COMPANY, LEASE OR HIRE CARS ANYWHERE IN THE UK

In the case of a company car or hire car, if you get a windscreen ticket you MUST appeal before day 28 (well before day 21 when it's an IPC firm which only 'offers' 21 days to appeal - check the PCN). This is in order to hook the PPC in your direction, before they get a chance to get the keeper's details from the DVLA.
There is more so find it, read it and the following few paragraphs.

You won't get an NTK , that goes to the lease or hire company , who should name you as lessee , then you get an NTH in your own name

Appealing as lessee Keeper diverts them from contacting the lease co

You are never the registered keeper , that honour belongs to the lease company

I am a private individual and am RK for my private vehicle , you are neither , you are lessee in a lease vehicle
  • Thanks again. If I log an appeal on UKPC’s site, would that expose me as the driver? (Given I have the ticket from the windscreen)

the driver passed it to the keeper , so the day to day keeper (who is the lessee) appeals as lessee/keeper using one of the edna basher examples

they only know who the driver was if the driver foolishly admits it

it could have been me driving , or a mechanic , or a chauffeur , who knows , they dont unless you blab about it, choose the words carefully, and ensure you choose the right boxes on their site when appealing

ps:- this person doesnt get it either

Perhaps the driver gave the NTD to the day to day keeper/hirer/lessee?

How else is the hirer/lessee going to appeal.

Just watch out for nasty drop down boxes that defaults to Driver. If changes are made after selecting keeper or hirer, the boxes default to Driver again. Nasty, nasty practice.

Triple check that Driver is not selected and get a screen grab before submitting.

Hi there, got the reply today as per below. What should I do next? Thanks again for all the help.

Thank you for your recent correspondence in relation to the above parking charge.
To assist us in making a decision regarding your appeal, please confirm the full name and address of the driver to our Appeals Department within seven days of the date of this letter.
please note there was no attachment in your recent appeal.
This information may be confirmed by submitting another appeal on our website at ........, or by post to the address overleaf. Please ensure that if writing to us by post that you include the parking charge reference number and vehicle registration.
Failure to provide this information will give us no alternative other than to make our final decision based on the previous information received. At this stage a POPLA verification code will be provided.
The parking charge has been on hold whilst under appeal and may be settled in full at the reduced rate of £60
PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE THIS LETTER. UKPC REGULARLY TAKES MOTORISTS TO COURT WHO IGNORE THEIR PARKING........FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.
    Yours faithfully,
