Barclays and Sainsbury Bank Issue

I recently paid a credit card statement bill for my Sainsbury credit card at Barclays with cash 10 days before due date. I received a letter from Sainsbury bank to say they had not received payment and my card was now blocked etc. I called them to say I had paid on time and had a receipt as proof of payment I could email to them. I was told this was not good enough and would need to get the branch sort code and account number to prove it was paid, and now have a black mark on my credit rating, due to the late payment.
The Barclays branch we happened to pay in is 45 miles away and would not expect them to hand over these details. The lady on the phone at Sainsbury bank would not except the proof of payment we had and when we cleared the outstanding card on the phone with a debit card still said the card is blocked.
We called in at our local Barclays and the guy was very helpful and could see we had paid and it was an error by Barclays and would raise the issue and should get a call back in the next 2 or 3 days. We heard nothing and the following week called back in the same branch spoke with the same guy and this time was not as helpful he had basically done his bit and we would have to wait and see what happens.
Called Sainsbury bank again and explained the situation but they did not want to know and said its Barclays problem and cannot remove the black mark on my credit file even though they could see I have never been late with a card payment.
Now around 20 days since the issue came to light and through no fault of my own I have a black mark on my credit file and have used up a lot of time chasing the issue that neither bank wants to help with - what can I do?
I appreciate any advice. Thanks

Put in a formal (written) complaint to Sainsburys and Barclays and escalate to the FOS if/when they do not resolve your issue to your satisfaction. Submit whatever proof you have alongside your complaint. I suspect the onus will be on Barclays to compensate you for their error, but Sainsburys is the one who has reported the missed payment, which technically is a factual representation of what has happened, so it might be a bit tricky to convince them to remove it.0

FOS will take months. That wont help this situation. Silly advice. You need to contact barclays mangement team. There is a thread on this already, have a read on it. It should be in the first two pages. They will sort this issue out. Also contact sainsburies executive managment team, u can find their email addresses online
Important point to make - EMAIL the Management team and not the standard complaints procedure. All invidivdual and personal emails in the subject line put 'Urgent - Attention of XXXXX0 -

Incorrect - AGAIN.
The FOS is there when the party/parties involved cannot reach a conclusion.
So in this instance, it makes perfect sense to contact the FOS.0 -
It looks like Gary has complained to the Forum mods and my posts have been deleted
Very strange as there were no insults or profanity in my posts. There were extremely good points and it also looks like another few posts that were defending me and agreeing with me have been deleted
Very Very ODD
OP - That should tell you everything you need to know. Follow me advice0 -
