I am decorating a room right this minute and having a big problem.
The wallpaper came off the walls easier than any I've ever seen in my life.
My problem is the border around the top at the ceiling. I think its stuck up with superglue!
I've been scrapping away since 9.30am and haven't yet done 18" in length. At this rate it'll take 2 wks solid work just to get this blinking border off ................and I just don't have the time.
I've soaked it in water, scored the surface and basically just gone at it like a madwoman, all with no effect.
Help please. What can I use / do to speed up this process.
I put the last wallpaper and border up about 2 yrs ago and only used an ordinary boarder glue.
Just going for a tea break and hope some kind person on here will have a magic cure when I get back.
Thanks in advance
LL

Just Googled and found this tip:
Wallpaper Removing Tip: FABRIC SOFTENER. It works. Dilute with some water...sponge on top of the wallpaper (really soak it actually)...give it a few minutes time...THEN...Peel it off with little aggrivation...
It works. I swear!
Cheers,
They recommend using a spray bottle and the scourer side of wash up sponge to get last little bits off.
Good luck

Good morning: In the past we have used a steam stripper and scoring for the nasty bits... you could modify your method by mixing a bit of washing up liquid with water.

Thanks guys.
Sparky61 , Its the border that won't shift, the wallpaper came off lovely!
Canucklehead, I've got washing up liquid in the water and the green scourer thingy, still not budging!
I do have a steamer somewhere that I've never had to use, will go and search it out ......................... unless because I never used it I've put it in the jumble at some point!
Any other ideas please??
My timetable was to strip walls, paint ceiling and undercoat before lunchtime................. arhhhhhhhhhhh

Right found my steamer, Black & Decker. No instructions though. I must have loaned it out at some time.
Can I use it at the angle I need safely?
Do I use it like an iron, gliding along or keep it in one place for an amount of time?
thanks again.

I had one that was self-adhesive and was stuck like you wouldn't believe , I heated it with a hair dryer and the glue melted enough for me to pull it off...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Good afternoon: Try this... http://www.screwfix.com/prods/16530/Decorating-Sundries/Decorators-Knives/Heavy-Duty-Scraper ...works for us. If the paper is vinyl, if would be an easier job if you dry stripped the top layer first to reveal the paper beneath...had to do this with every room in our last renovation. Instructions for use of a steam stripper are available here
