Because it depends on the parking firm. Many SUE people, just not MET.I'd say that's what's missing from post #4 from sticky thread. It says to ignore but it don't clearly say what to expect.
And the 1st post of the sticky tells everyone to complain to the retailer, every time.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

That is why you should have appealed at the outset , you didn't appeal nor did you complain to McDonald's either (you should have done both)Well I understand the part about ignoring these letters I do but what's after that? Honestly I'd like to settle this somehow so I wont be disturbed about that anymore. Ideally without paying or paying something just not ridiculous £170...
A bit late to want to turn the clock back , it is what it is , meaning that if Met want to actively pursue the invoice they must take out an MCOL within 6 years , the same as you can do if a customer failed to pay you for being sick all over the back seat of your taxi causing a large £100 cleaning bill for you
That is the reality of you ignoring this from the start
So when you are halfway through the desert , no option is desirable , but the decision was made at the start to set out with your blindfold firmly around your head and only a little water , you are lucky that you have mobile phone service so can ask the audience !!0 -
