Hello,
I am a bit lost here and looking for guidance.

Private hire driver in a private hire vehicle bought a coffee in McDonald's drive-through then stopped to put the sugar in and drove off. According to the MET parking and confirmed on the photos driver did stop in the middle of a disabled parking bay. It took a few minutes to put the sugar in the coffee literally but can't remember exactly how long.

There was no action and ignored all the letters from MET now got this one from DRP.

Sorry I am unable to add photo of the letter. Says I can't post links.

What's the right thing to do now, please?

This should have been appealed at the start , too late now

    Ignore drp

Read post #4 of the newbies faq sticky thread near the top of the forum

In future , appeal , not ignore , plus never stop on a disabled bay

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so consider complaining to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Post four of the Newbies Sticky covers DRP entirely - the rest of the thread will get you ready for the possibility of the PPC trying a court claim but that is by no means a given.

Beyond what post #4 of the NEWBIES thread tells you about DRP and ignoring the thing because you missed appealing it? Or have you not read that part of the sticky thread yet, please do as it fully covers your query already.

There is nothing else to add, which is why that post #4 of the NEWBIES thread (see my signature below for where to click - NO LINK given) begs people not to start any DRP threads as we are too busy to repeat this and nothing will happen with MET.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Well I understand the part about ignoring these letters I do but what's after that? Honestly I'd like to settle this somehow so I wont be disturbed about that anymore. Ideally without paying or paying something just not ridiculous £170...

    but what's after that?
NOTHING. It's MET. If you don't believe me, search the forum for MET McDonalds ignore or MET DRP and show me any that have proceeded to a court claim? You will find NONE from MET.

Why have McD's not cancelled it for you when you complained, as we advise in the sticky thread for NEWBIES?

Not a single person here pays MET. There is nothing to settle and you CANNOT negotiate.

the only way to settle this now is to complain to McDonald's

otherwise listen to what forum members are saying ...

  • Ok thanks for your input. I'd say that's what's missing from post #4 from sticky thread. It says to ignore but it don't clearly say what to expect. Thank you.
