Away between Christmas and New year
Comments

Just back from a week in Istanbul and I had a great time. Thoroughly recommended as somewhere to go for Christmas and/or New Year. It made a refreshing change to spend Christmas in a country which doesn't celebrate Christmas - December the 25th was just a normal working day.
The weather was about the same as here, chilly and drizzling, but there is loads to see and do, the public transport system excellent (once you work it out) and the exchange rate make eating and drinking relatively cheap.0 -

Agree 100% with Istanbul. Been several times, and still only skimmed the surface.
Last time was an early February for a couple of days. Wet and damp, but fascinating. Then jumped on a one hour flight down to Antalya, and had wall-to-wall sunshine for 2 weeks.
One of the world's great cities.....don't be put off by 'Midnight Express'.:)0 -
