Nationwide flexaccount European insurance

I am one of the few folk who still qualify for the free European insurance through the basic Nationwide flexaccount.
As we have started to venture further afield, we were wondering if it is cost effective to purchase the worldwide upgrade, or just buy worldwide insurance as and when we need it.
Any information as to costs, restrictions, etc., would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Didn't think it was an exclusive club.I am one of the few folk who still qualify for the free European insurance through the basic Nationwide flexaccount.

We still qualify for this after 15-20 years:cool:
I always upgrade to the Worldwide cover and IIRC it is £40 for both of us.(May have gone up to £70, can't find the invoice for this year)
We are both in our early 60's-healthy and usualy take at least 2 long haul holdays per year.
I do not think you can find a better value insurance.
That said, I have just put in my first claim, so we'll see how Nationwide perform.
BTW
I extended the 30day max cover up to 126 days and that cost an extra £180 for the whole year.
The cost worked on a sliding scale and is valid for every separate holiday in the year.
We have been away twice this year for 12 weeks and then 32 days so far.0 -

Apologies, maybe I worded that wrong, like you I have had my Nationwide account for over 20 years hence still qualifying for the insurance.
(I was referring to Nationwide removing the perk for new accounts)
And thank you for the price info.
As you say, I doubt I can get Annual Worldwide insurance at a better price.

blindman, I have claimed on the Nationwide policy. (European). Claim was handled and settled in a professional manner.

Do you need other cover -
Phone insurance, breakdown etc?
If so would a FlexPlus account not suit you?0 -

We did look into the flexPlus account, but, for our needs it wasn't particularly good value.
My car insurance has basic assistance and recovery included, and as it is only used for work, it rarely goes much more than 25 miles from home, so don't really need anything more.
Our home insurance (also with Nationwide) covers our mobile phones
As already mentioned, we get free European travel insurance with the flexAccount, so all we would be gaining would be the worldwide option.
As Blindman mentioned £40 (or £70) a year is a very good deal for Worldwide travel insurance.0 -
That £40 supplement sounds familiar.
They offer: European, Global excluding America, or fully Global.
I seem to recall that they charge the supplement pro rata. So if you upgrade to Global they'll charge a proportion of the fee up to the next renewal date.
On the renewal date you can renew the global, or drop back to European.0 -

Definitely great value for Worldwide travel cover :T:T:T0 -
